Hi folks,

For those of you that can participate in next Friday’s Remembrance day ceremony, I found out that they are pushing the start a little earlier to make way for added presentations.

So, if we could be seated by 10am that would be sufficient. They want to start the ceremony by 1030am with the playing of O Canada, so we want to perform our selections prior to that. I think it may take them a little longer to get organized but we should be ready.

Thanks. Dress is all black with poppy. Tie is optional.

Come and enjoy a ‘musical appetizer’ on November 10th at 5pm and hear Jeff Hanlon play classic pieces from the new golden age of guitar in the 2nd concert of our Happy Hour Sound Bytes series.

As a soloist and chamber musician, Jeff Hanlon has performed at venues and festivals across Canada and the United States, including the Banff Centre for the Arts, the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, Yale University’s New Music New Haven series and the Faculty Artist Series of Queen’s University. He has recorded for PBS radio and for CBC Radio 2, and has given workshops and masterclasses for guitarists at York University, the Canadian Guitar Festival and the Federation of Canadian Music Festivals (FCMF).

Concert runs from 5:00-5:45 pm at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 263 Victoria Street

Single concert admission is $15 at the door. Queen’s students $5.00

Children shorter than a bassoon are admitted free!

Here’s the link of me coming in for a landing on my solo flight. Katie filmed it.

Canta Arya School for Strings (Suzuki) is hosting a brunch in the Grandview Room at the Delta Hotel next Sunday, October 29th from 11:30 to 2:00. Aqua Terra will be catering. Excellent music will be provided by the Canta Arya students!

Tickets are $60, and the funds raised will support Canta Arya’s Outreach Programmes. We are raising money to provide bursaries for students, and this year we are providing supplies and lessons for a recent Syrian refugee. Outreach projects include everything from community concerts and charity events to teacher training and supplies for Suzuki students in Zimbabwe and South Africa. In fact, one of our supported students from an AIDS orphanage in South Africa is now attending university for violin!

Please see the attached invitation for details. Questions or ticket requests may also be directed to Marilyn Broadhead marilyn.broadhead.

Please consider attending this wonderful event!

Just to let you know that I went in for an Echo Cardiogram and stress test on 3:00 Wednesday. When they were completed I was not allowed to leave the hospital, but was admitted to the cardio ward.

Thursday afternoon I had a angiogram through the wrist but because of small arteries they could not get the catheter past my elbow to put in a couple of stints. So Friday they went in through the femoral artery and put in 4 stints.

Today they released me on the understanding I will have a couple of days rest.

However they said I could start playing the saxophone on Monday but would need someone to carry the bag because I can’t carry anything over 10 lbs. for a week.
