Thanks

Hi folks,

Thank you to all of you who participated in Grad last night.

It was great for Doug to take the helm and I felt very good knowing that all was well in my absence since I was performing at the Playhouse.

Have a great summer!

If you get a chance, come and see the show She Loves Me, in Gan. It’s a great show.

Let me know you’re coming and I’ll come out at intermission and say hi.

Hi folks,

I just had a meeting with Talya McKenna our Principal regarding the adult string classes for September.

I know that many of you have expressed your concerns directly to Ms. McKenna and she has relayed your thoughts and ideas to me.

As some of you may be aware, the staffing process is very complicated and this year is no exception, perhaps even more of a concern than usual.

Many teachers at the high school level who have 6 years seniority have been given their notice that there is no job for them due to declining enrolment.

With this in mind, hiring new teachers in specialist areas is very difficult to get approval.

In order to keep the adult string program from closing, Talya with the support of the Board has asked me if I would increase my entitlement from part time to full time and run the string classes for the Fall semester.

As you know, I was thrilled when Doug started the string classes and I knew it would be a great addition to adult music learning in this community and would be a success under Doug’s baton.

So, I have agreed to take on the string classes. I have taken string techniques classes in my Education degree but my main focus was band.

My plan is to take private lessons on Violin and Cello this summer so that I may be an effective teacher and also a lifelong learner like all of you!

I assure you that I will make the classes informative, musical and most of all, a fun and collaborative music experience.

We will have all our classes in the music room and class times will still be in the mornings.

I have to figure out a 5 day schedule that will best suit your learning needs and utilize the music room to its fullest.

I hope that we will be able to work together through this period of transition to support the adult music programs at LaSalle. I know you will have input on ways we can make the Fall a great success.

Thanks for your support and I hope you tell your friends about it so that we can have large classes.

Sincerely,

Chris

Harbourplace Cancelled

Hi folks,

Here’s a message from Judy.

Please pass it on to those whom you think may not get this email.

Thanks

Hi Chris,

I am sorry to inform you that the Social Committee here has decided it is too risky to have the Wine and Cheese outside. Even if it doesn’t actually rain at 4:00, it is apparently very windy and wet on the podium.

The Committee members are very disappointed as the Band is a big draw for this activity.

I wish to extend a great big THANK YOU to the many people who showed up today to help file all the music piled at the back. In 2 hours you cleared away everything. The tops of the file cabinets haven’t looked this clean in a very long time. Again many, many thanks!

A Very Grateful Karen
