Marion update

When I arrived at the hospital to visit Marion Jan, Andrew (Jan’s friend)

and Jenni were there with Marion dressed and sitting beside the bed. To our

surprise they were releasing Marion today. They had monitored her since

yesterday morning and were very satisfied with her condition. A comment

from the Doctor "she will be better at home away from the possibility of

catching an infection".

So Jenni and I have become nurses overnight. Jenni is going to stay with

us for a few days.

Marion had a good dinner and we put her to bed about 10:30pm. An exhausting

day for her.

Blessings,

Bern

Good evening,

PTL! Marion had the ICD implant this morning at 8:00am. She returned to her room around 11:00am. Everything went well. She rested in bed and had lunch until about 3:00pm. Physio personnel came and took her for a walk shortly after 3:00pm after which she sat in a chair for awhile.

She ate a good dinner sitting in a chair and after receiving her evening meds about 7:00pm she retired for the night.

Those of us who live in the Kingston area are truly blessed and privileged to have the excellent medical facilities and staff that exist in the city.

Blessings,

Bern

Good evening,

Marion asked me to especially thank each of you for your prayers.

Today was one of those up and down days. Marion had a long walk this morning with a walker and was in excellent spirits awaiting the implant. However, shortly after 3:00pm we were told she would be first on tomorrow’s schedule.

She had not had anything to eat since last evening so she ate the lunch that had been left for her. The result of the implant change meant that her pain med schedule had been disrupted.

We finally had a consult with a Cardiac worker later who walked up through the implant procedure in detail.

Around 6:00pm she began to experience heavy pain in the CPR area. They gave her increased Meds and she was resting comfortably by the time I left shortly after 8:00pm.

From her comments this evening Marion was experiencing some anxiety over tomorrow’s procedure.

Blessings,

Bern

Good evening,

Here is a short update on the past two days:

12/ 11/12

Marion was moved to the Cardiac Care floor this morning. She bypassed the Cardiac Step-down Unit, heart monitoring is being done by way of what looks like a wireless Monitor unit. The (ICD) implant was cancelled for today. In fact all those scheduled for today were cancelled. The implant was rescheduled for Thursday.

We have seen more improvement in Marion again this morning.

She ate a reasonable lunch and dinner of regular food. They had her on her feet today a couple of times.

Marion talked to our son Michael in the Dominican again this evening via Skype. It is evident she would really like to see him home for Christmas. However, he can’t leave the Dominican as he is in the midst of an application for permanent residency. She also began to ask a lot of questions today about arrangements for Christmas Day and commenting she would not be able to help much but I would.

We really are sensing the prayer that is going up for Marion and our family.

12/12/12

Marion’s condition continues to improve. She is feeding herself and transferred from bed to a chair several times today with some assistance. As well they had her walking with a walker today.

The (ICD) implant is definitely scheduled for tomorrow – not sure what time.

Now that Marion is in the Cardiac Care Unit she is off the Morphine Pump and they are in the progress of readjusting the pain Meds. She had a couple of heavy pain episodes today. So this is a continuing matter for prayer.

Blessings,

Bern

Good evening,

Here is a short update on the past two days,

12/09/12

Another encouraging day. Marion transferred from her bed to a chair and sat up for over 3 hours. She was again more alert and communicative that yesterday. We are seeing a daily progression. PTL!

The pain control schedule she is on is working well. Her chest appears to be only paining when she coughs or sneezes. The breathing exercises are going well.

The transfer papers to a step-down unit are in place but still no bed available. The insertion of the (ICD) is still scheduled for tomorrow according to the last night’s nurse.

12/10/12

Marion was up sitting in a chair for a few hours this morning. They have removed the feeding tube and I fed her some fluid food for lunch. She is now taking her Pills without grinding in Apple Sauce. which pleases her that there will not be any more spoonfuls of bitter Apple Sauce.

She had some solid food for dinner which she enjoyed. The pain is under control and she is very alert and communicative.

The (ICD) insertion is still set for tomorrow, but there is some possibility it will be bumped to Wednesday or Thursday due to scheduling in the Cath Lab.

Blessings,

Bern
