A new concert series!!

Hello folks,

Here’s a concert series that Katie is putting on this year.

It’s going to great fun and great music at a great price!

Each subscriber will get a season’s pass that will be punched at the time of each concert.

Check out the line up of music and musicians.

I’ll have tickets ready for purchase in the coming weeks at school.

Announcing our new concert series for 2012-2013 – Happy Hour’s Sound Bytes, a selection of 6 tasty morsels of music that will end your week on a high note!

Series subscriptions are available for $50 for all 6 concerts or tickets are $10 at the door. Admission is free for Queen’s students. Series Subscribers will be automatically entered in a draw to have the group of their choice play for an hour at a private function (weddings, parties etc) .

All concerts are Friday evenings from 5:30pm-6:20pm at St. Andrew’s Church hall, 130 Clergy Street, Kingston

Oct 26 From Contra-time to Rhythm … sweep the weekly blues away with the Kingston Classics trio

Nov 17 When Lyricism meets passion… who will win? Music by Piazzolla and Vaughan Williams performed by Michel Szczesniak, Katie Legere and Chris Alfano

Dec 7 Thursday’s Child Bassoon Ensemble present Bassoons Galore! … be amused, be VERY amused!

Jan 18 Savor La Dolce Vita … sensuous sounds of clarinet and accordion with Sorrento. Chris Alfano and special guest from Ottawa, Ian Fitze

Feb 22 Michel, Katie and Chris return to play the beautiful Brahms Clarinet Sonata in F minor and a selection of Brahms Gypsy songs adapted for bassoon and piano

March 22 As Welcome as flowers that bloom in the spring, the Kingston Classics Trio returns to end the series with a selection of light classical favourites.

Hi folks,

As far as I know, we have the same schedule as last year.

We start on Monday Sept 10th.

Beginner classes are Monday, Tuesday Wednesday from 830 to 930am

Intermediates are Tuesday from 945 to 1130am and Thursday 830 to 930am

Senior Band Monday and Wednesday 945 to 1130am

Sight reading Thursday 945 to 1030am

No classes on Friday.

Regarding the "Big Band Friday Night" Concert for this coming Friday evening (17th August):

Due to CKWS having a Rock Concert at Springer Square beginning at 7:30, the Confederation Jazz Band will be playing from 6 to 7 PM (rather than the usual 7 to 8) in front of City Hall at Confederation Park. LaSalle Band members involved are Gale Smith, Jennifer Bennett and myself.

A note from Doug Rooks

SATURDAYAugust 118 -12pm – BLUE SWING QUARTET

Doug Rooks on bass, Brant Peppley on guitar and vocals, James Mclellan on flute and Val Hamilton on alto sax and vocals. Guest drummer fir the nite is Stuart Pike. The band is a collection of old friends and colleagues from Kingston whose mission is to play lovable jazz! They have a cache of lively swing tunes, heartwarming jazz standards, and Latin numbers. Danceable and memorable!
